From
Nippon Kodo's Kyara Momoyama family of Premium Incense, this item is the 36 Short Stick version (bound as a small book). This Incense also ships in a
125 Medium length stick box here.
The name 'Momoyama' comes from Japan's Aduchi- Momoyama era, which spanned the years 1573 CE to 1603 CE. During this period, Nobunaga Oda and Hodeyoshi Toyotomi ruled over Japan and cultural activities such as Tea ceremony, Noh Play and the Incense ceremony (Koh-Do) prospered.
The fragrance from Momoyama sticks is deep & haunting, and sweeter than you'll find in Kyara Taikan (the next level below in quality from Kyara Momoyama).
These finest quality sticks are created from a blend of Aloeswood, herbs
and spices. Kyara is the name used for the finest Aloeswood, sourced from Vietnam and surrounds. This is an ever decreasing and difficult to find
resource, which has become more expensive than gold by weight. Momoyama Aloeswood is made from a rare Vietnamese wood that has sweetness and allows you to experience the deep rich fragrance of Japanese Momoyama era culture.
'Listening' to these sticks will reward you with a very sophisticated aromatic experience. You'll be enjoying a fragrance used at ancient Japanese Imperial Court Incense ceremonies.
The packaging is a fabric-covered Paulownia wood box and includes a ceramic Incense Stick holder. With its small side clasp, the box appears as a small fabric-bound book. In addition to appearances, the fabric serves the additional purpose of moisture protection, helping to keep the sticks in prime condition.
